Welcome!
:ArmA is first and foremost a community-driven game. When we desire a feature, we create it. When we desired a fraternity, a close knit element of ArmA enthusiasts and content creators - we founded it. Since October of 2016, we have been creating private organized sessions in ArmA in order to support the "arma without the bullshit" attitude. Unlike other communities, we value solid gameplay and mission design to empower players and not fake ranks. A Community like no other, comprised of individuals who embody our values of Teamwork, Engaging Gameplay, Competition, and Fun. Since then, we've swelled to well over 100 members and have our own operating procedures and in-game elements that put us above the others.

Syllabus
<center>This syllabus is designed to introduce you to the community as well as inform you on what you need to do next. Follow the instructions and you'll be in-game in no time. If you have any other questions, ask anyone in discord!</center>

What you need to do next
Set up your account
:Your dossier is step one in the joining process. It comprises of information about yourself and serves as a first introduction to the other members of the community. It is also a living document. In the event you will be absent from the community for extended periods of time or have a major life change you want to inform others about, simply posting in your dossier keeps us updated. We will also link your teamspeak and discord accounts to our member portal here so that you receive permissions across all three.

:1.) Log into the forums and navigate to the dossier forum: (If you need help with finding your Arma3 ID check out this helpful video)
B.) Join Discord
:Discord is our go-to chat communication medium to keep all members informed on administration, mod repository updates, announcing when other games are being played, and just generally keeping in touch with others within the community. It is the one thing you are required to be active on. You'll notice members are organized by colors in discord. Purple is new members, green are full-time members, and yellow/red members are admins.

Connecting Guide
# ) Download and install the desktop discord client from here.
# ) Await permissions to be given to you.

Channels
In order to separate banter from mission design conversations, the discord is split up into different channels. All with their own functions. Some channels will only be avaliable to you when you’ve become a full member of the community.</center>

C.) Download the Modpack
Download Guides
:There is currently 1 method to download our modpack:

::Installing with Steam Workshop

:::Recommended startup parameters:
:::<pre> -nosplash -skipIntro -world=empty </pre>

D.) Connect to Teamspeak
We currently support teamspeak 3.5.2 with ACRE version 2.7.3.1024

::Teamspeak is the backbone of our community. We use teamspeak as our main verbal communication medium while out-of-game as well as how we communicate during sessions. You're expected to be active on teamspeak (even if just sitting in the AFK channel) just as you would in discord.

::In order to receive teamspeak permissions, you must first link your teamspeak UID on your account here and then receive your orientation from a Company NCO.

How to Connect
:1.) Download the Teamspeak 3 client from here.

:2.) Install teamspeak

:3.) Open the client and goto Bookmarks -> Manage bookmarks

:4.) Add a new bookmark and label it "COALITION" with this connection information:

:::<u>Address:</u> ts3.coalitiongroup.net
:::<u>Port:</u> 9987
:::<u>Password:</u> None

:5.) Set your nickname for the bookmark to be whatever nickname you registered to the Coalition with

:6.) Connect!

Voice Activation
:For the consideration of other members, please consider using push-to-talk, especially if you have frequent background noise. Alternatively, bind a push-to-mute key and use it especially during slotting. Be aware that once you're in game, ACRE consistently disables toggle mute. If you use voice activation and you find yourself suffering from background noise while in ACRE, you can use TAB + Scroll down to reduce your volume to whisper so as to avoid bothering those around you.

:Respect is the key aspect of voice activation, always be aware of what noises you may have coming through your microphone if you choose to use it.

E.) Do an Orientation
:Finally, once you have your dossier posted and connected to discord, your final task is to conduct a 30min orientation on how sessions work here at Coalition. Launch the game through Arma3 Launcher and attempt to connect to the training server with the information found here.

::Why do we require orientation and what do we go over?

:::Simply put, we require orientation because it cuts down on the amount of questions that you need to ask in the middle of a live mission particularly if you are new to the game or the mods we use. Orientation times vary based on how experienced a person is with ACE, ACRE, and ARMA controls. Our main goals are to make sure you had no issues with your modpack install, familiarize you with these mods, introduce you to the ideology of Coalition itself, and show off some framework features you might not see in other groups.

:::If you are an experienced player we mainly focus on how things work within the group and do a quick run through of our checklist to make sure you know whats up.

:::If you are a new player we will take the time to answer any and all questions you have about anything that you feel you need to know to transition into ARMA easily. We will also offer suggestions on certain controls or settings to help streamline your experience in-game.

:::Some of the biggest things on our checklist include but are not limited to:
::::* ACE Interaction and Medical
::::* ACRE radio keys and how to change volume settings
::::* How to use the in-game "Message Admin" system
::::* What we expect of you if you become a full member
::::* Binding a few important miscellaneous controls
::::* Answering any and all questions you have

:::A member of the community will contact you ASAP to get an orientation done! If they haven't yet, message your NCO in your section channel to get one set up.

All done! What now?
:Now you attend session on Wednesday or Saturday! If you really want to be a high speed death dealing machine and generally impress everyone with your magnum dong in infantry warfare, read up on our Infantry Guide here!

Mission Types
Here at the Coalition we play four different mission types:

*COOP - Cooperative: One or more teams of players vs. computer-controlled AI unit
*TvT - Team vs Team: One team of players vs another team of players
*COTvT - Cooperative-team vs team: One team of players vs another team of players with AI units throughout the map
*SPCL - Special "fun" game types that can be event or holiday based. Commonly to be played lightly or with little seriousness

Each link will provide an overview of some expectations we will be looking for when you submit the mission.

Submitting Missions
BEFORE ANYTHING, BE SURE YOUR MISSION TESTING MENU IS ENABLED IN THE EDITOR

1) Go to: http://coalitiongroup.net/missions/index.html

2) Press the 'ADD' button and fill out all the details provided. They're self-explanatory. 'Times played' relates to whether the mission is new or not. New missions takes priority. In the description of the mission, you are advised to submit a link of the mission map. This will allow potential PLs to have a look at what they'll be facing. Be sure to list specialties that are available and/or required for your mission.

3) The mission will now appear in the 'missions' section of the directory. However, you now have to actually upload it for testing. Press 'browse' and upload the .pbo file - remember to follow this template: cmf(version)_(co/tvt)(player count)_(mission_name).(map name) For instance, "cmf53_co54_dawn_assault.altis", "cmf53" indicating it is on version 5.3 of the CMF, "co54" meaning it is a coop with 54 playable slots, "dawn_assault" is the mission name, and ".altis" is the map extension.

4) You will need to check over your missions with other members of the community to find any errors and for opinions on changes that could be made.

5) After you have checked over your missions and feel its ready, click "request testing". This will notify the QA team that a mission needs testing and feedback in discord.

6) If your mission has something special about it that QA needs to know, i.e, scripts, special vehicles, triggers, ect, you need to comment on the database what we need to look out for. This helps us to find and ensure what you want will work as intended.

Fixing Missions
1) If your mission is broken, the QA team has to post a comment stating the issue with said mission. You will be notified on Discord immediately.

2) Once you have fixed the mission, click 'browse', reupload it, then click 'request testing'. You need to rename it with a version number as you update the missions uploaded (v1, v2, v3, ect).

What we Look for in QA:
*Does the mission look fun? Primary concern

*Is there any lengthy convoying required to travel between objectives that could potentially kill the players' fun?

*Is the fps good?

*Does the mission flow and run as the briefing describes?

*Is the staging area in a good, safe location?

*Are there any unnecessary map markers or modules added?

*Are all the playable units placed correctly? (example: if its a nato mission make sure the playable units are nato for the gear script to run correctly.)

[Gametype][number of players] - [Attack/Defend] | [Explain faction and gear type] | [Specialties] [Zeus is/is not required]

(Any specialties placed in the mission will be assumed as needed and will be slotted.)

EXAMPLE: COOP40 - Attack | RU Spetsnaz, NVGs | MMG, MAT, TH1/2 | Zeus is Required

*Please be sure to keep AI ENABLED as this helps us to QA quickly and effectively
C.) Download the Modpack
Download Guides
:There is currently 1 method to download our modpack:

::Installing with Steam Workshop

:::Recommended startup parameters:
:::<pre> -nosplash -skipIntro -world=empty </pre>

:::<u>Address:</u> ts3.coalitiongroup.net
:::<u>Port:</u> 9987
:::<u>Password:</u> None

Launch the game through swifty/a3sync and attempt to connect to the training server with the information found here.

::::* ACE Interaction and Medical

Launch the game through swifty/a3sync and attempt to connect to the training server with the information found here.

::::* ACE Interaction and Medical

All done! What now?

We will also link your teamspeak and discord accounts to our member portal here so that you receive permissions across all three.
C.) Download the Modpack
Download Guides
:There is currently 1 method to download our modpack:

::Installing with Swifty 3

::Installing with a3sync

::NOTE: We currently don't support the modpack on steam workshop due to potential DMCA notice. A lot of the mods we use are edited to our liking and uploading our versions to the workshop generally goes against mod author requests.

:::Recommended startup parameters:
:::<pre> -nosplash -skipIntro -world=empty </pre>

:::<u>Address:</u> ts3.coalitiongroup.net
:::<u>Port:</u> 9987
:::<u>Password:</u> None

Hawk: /* After-action Review */

Below you will find a generalized list of rules and regulations within Coalition. They are numbered and broken down into three main sections:<br><br>

1.) Community<br>
2.) Session<br>
3.) Tertiary<br><br>

--> HQ reserves the right to update rules as necessary.<br>--> It is every Company member's responsibility to read and understand the rules. <br>

Community Rules (out-of-game)
Community rules cover everything outside of ArmA sessions. While these rules are specific to non-gameplay elements, they still apply in-game.
General Conduct
Attitude
Your attitude while interacting with any element of the community should be adult-oriented. This means bringing up issues in an appropriate way, approaching others you may have issues with, or accurately fixing issues as you see them.
Toxicity
Toxicity in any form will not be tolerated in the community. While emotions do run wild during sessions, any issues that appear should be dealt with on the spot as long as it does not interfere with the session flow.
Respect
While there isn't a specified ranking structure in Coalition, it is every active members responsibility to understand that HQ is the final say on topics. Respect should be given to all members as well as decisions made by HQ.

Discord
Discord usage is a requirement for all members.
Responsibility
You are responsible for every post you make.
Use Appropriate Channels
All members under the Coalition banner must use the appropriate channels in discord when posting any content. Use this page as a quick reference on each channel's usage.
Memes
Memes must be relevant to any channel they're posted in. Otherwise, any safe-for-work meme can be posted in #general.
#Battalion
No memes or joking material of any type is to be posted in the #battalion discord channel.
NSFW/DFAC Material
The only channel authorized for NSFW material is the #dfac channel.
Notifications
Do not mute @here and @everyone. NCOs are the only personnel who can use it so it won't be spammed.

Furthermore, leave these channels un-muted for important info:
<pre>
#announcements
#repo
#session
#now-playing
</pre>
Teamspeak
Teamspeak is only required when attending session or playing other games with the community. However, it is recommended that you idle teamspeak to show activity.
Channel Usage
Channel usage is to be respected at all times. Don't attempt to push others out of a channel or interfere with what they're doing.
Organizing in Other Games
Any time the community has five or more active players in another game, they are expected to organize into it.

Example: Five company members begin playing an MMO. They draw the attention of others within the community who wish to join. To support the build-up in players, they should create a guild.
<hr>
<br>
<br>
Session Rules (in-game)
Session rules are specific elements of gameplay that generally only apply while in an official Coalition session or impromptu.
Slotting Screen
The slotting screen is used to slot all members into the active mission.
Voice Activation/"Hot-micing"
If using voice activation, a push-to-mute bind is required. Hot-mic'ing will not be tolerated.

Consistent hot-mic'ing will result in removal of voice activation ability.

Slotting Method
The HQ session admin will call slotting in this order:<br>
<pre>
Recruits and Public Players - This is for recruits and public players to slot in their allowed roles
Specialist - This is when Specialist and above to slot in any role
Soldier - This is when all Soldiers will slot in any role
Grunts - This is when all Grunts will slot in their allowed roles
</pre>

Communicating
Only one (1) HQ member will conduct slotting. All company members will communicate through text while at the slotting screen.
Time limit
Slotting should not take any longer than three (3) minutes.
Slotting Limitations
All community members should take roles that they are familiar with and authorized to take.<br>
Recruit limitations:<br>
<pre>
Assistant Automatic Rifleman
Rifleman (AT)
Grenadier
Vehicle Driver
MMG/MAT/HAT/SAM/ST Assistant/Spotter
</pre>
Grunt limitations:<br>
<pre>
Fireteam Leader (FTL)
Automatic Rifleman (AR)
MMG Team Ammo-bearer

MAT Team Leader
MAT Team Gunner
MAT Team Ammo-bearer
</pre>

Briefing Period
The briefing period is the first ten (10) minutes after loading into the mission but may go over if the mission is complicated.
Squad Leaders and Platoon Leaders
During this time, all squad-leaders and above are required to meet in order to plan the mission as best as possible. After PL briefs the SLs, it is the SLs responsibility to brief their FTLs.
Fireteam Leaders and General Infantry
During this time, all General Infantry are to read their briefing of the situation and verify they have all the necessary gear to complete their objective(s). Once all FTLs have received their briefings from their SL, it is the FTLs responsibility to refine the plan on the fireteam level and answer any questions fireteam members may have.
Mission Start
Once the mission safe-start timer ends and "Mission Start" appears, weapons are live and you are expected to perform the mission to the best of your ability as described in the briefing.
Session Flow
You are expected to play the mission to the best of your ability from start to finish. The mission flow shouldn't be interrupted by issues or outside communication.
"Character"
You are expected to stay in "character" at all times. This means you don't talk about how you have a hot new co-worker while moving to an objective.
After-action Review
After each mission, take a moment to follow the pinned template in #aar in discord to discuss the mission.

Meta-gaming
Meta gaming is relaying any information about mission-related content that shouldn't be known. This is not allowed in any shape or form.

Example: You get killed and are able to see the enemy team's location. You then choose to message someone alive on a third-party platform (like steam) about their locations.

External Mods/Help
No external modifications of the game client or PBOs(mods) are authorized while in session. If it's not in the modpack or it gives you an advantage over other players, you can't use it.

In-game Issues
Player Issues
If, for any reason, you are having issues with a member during a session, you should immediately ask them to stop what they're doing to affect the fun of the session for you IF POSSIBLE. Your interaction with them should not interrupt the session flow for anyone. If the matter is out of your hands, use the "Message Admin" feature.
Team Killing
All forms of team killing are frowned upon and will not be tolerated. Alternatively, "vigilante justice" is not a thing and will result in players removed from session.
Insubordination
Insubordination is the one in-game no-go we have. Plans are not always the best, and you're free to voice your opinion to your superior about it in order to change it, but DO NOT attempt to go against the platoon plan or your orders.
Disagreeing
As a leader, you're expected to support the platoon plan 100%. This is especially true to how you act about the plan around GI. Take what you are given and make the best of it.
Technical Issues
Use the "Message Admin" feature to have any technical issues rectified.
<hr>
<br>
<br>

Tertiary Rules
Creating Other Discord Servers
Groups of company members are allowed to create other coalition-related discords to further game play elements in other games only.<br>

Example: A group of 5+ members are currently organizing a trading company in the game Naval Action. To support their actions, they create another discord in order to better organize themselves.
Limitations
Anything Coalition-related should be kept within the main coalition discord. The only time this changes is when it encompasses multiple members playing a new game and an entire other discord will help organize them.
Creating Session Missions
All sessions missions must be on the latest version of the Coalition Mission Framework(CMF) found here: Framesworks.
Creating Mods
Any company member is free to use any asset in the modpack to create new mods. If you plan to release the mod publicly, it must have some sort of credit pointed towards Coalition.
Creating SQF/Scripts
Any company member is free to use any asset in the CMF to create new scripts. If you plan to release the script publicly, it must have some sort of credit pointed towards Coalition.
Creating Impromptu Sessions
A Company member is free to create their own impromptu sessions. It is recommended that you post the mission ahead of time in the "Impromptu Sessions" forum in order to plan it ahead of time.
Hosting
During the impromptu, it is the hosting company member's responsibility to ensure the impromptu is run smoothly and without issue. It is their impromptu session.
Types of missions
Company members should expect lower turnouts to impromptu sessions in comparison to main sessions. Each impromptu mission should be scaled back and easy to plan/control.
Content Creation
Producing Videos
AT = Rifleman (Anti-Tank)

GRN = Grenadier

Basic Fireteam Formations
Fireteam Wedge
<pre>
FTL
AR      GRN
AAR             AT

</pre>
The fireteam wedge is the default formation used when moving towards contact or an unknown area. It allows for quick transitioning into a line and ease of movement. The AR should always be placed on the side
of which contact is more likely to happen, so he and his team can establish a base of fire and achieve fire superiority as soon as possible.

Fireteam Column
<pre>
AT
AR
AAR
FTL
GRN
</pre>
The fireteam column is best used when you expect enemy contact to come from your sides. Its frontal and rear firepower is minimal and is best used when crossing expected minefields.

Fireteam Line
<pre>
AT   AR   AAR   FTL  GRN
</pre>
The fireteam line is what formation you will always turn into when reacting to contact. Regardless of what formation you where traveling in, always form a line facing the direction of first contact to maximize fire power.

Staggered Column
<pre>
AT
AR
AAR
FTL
GRN
</pre>
The staggered column is a good compromise for a fireteam. Naturally this will be chosen for road marches or when escorting assets. It is a very balanced formation with equal firepower to all sides.
A staggered column should be preferred over a column in most situations.

Basic Squad Formations
Squad formations are chosen by the squad leader, usually team leaders have the freedom to choose the fireteam formation.
However, the fireteam formation needs to be within the intent of the squad leader's choice of the squad formation.
Bad examples:
A squad line with fireteams in columns or a squad column with fireteams in lines.
The fireteam formations are interfering and contradicting with the squad formation becoming essentially pointless.

Squad Column with fireteam wedges => "fireteams in the squad are aligned in a column and the fireteam formations are wedges"
<pre>
FTL
AR      GRN
AAR             AT

SL
M

FTL
GRN      AR
AT             AAR
</pre>
If traveling or traveling-overwatch is the movement technique to be used for the squad, this will be your default formations.
It is a compromise of risk minimization due to small exposure, flexibility to transition into other formation, to react to contact,
ease of control and traveling speed.

Squad Line with fireteam wedges => "fireteams in the squad are aligned in a line and the fireteam formations are wedges"
<pre>
FTL                       FTL
AR      GRN               GRN      AR
AAR             AT        AT             AAR
SL
M
</pre>
The squad line is what all formations become if the entire squad comes under fire. Squad leaders should minimize time in the squad line unless defensive. If defensive, the squad line offers maximum firepower forward but leave the flank firepower to be desired.

Squad Column
<pre>
AT
AR
AAR
FTL
GRN

AT
AR
AAR
FTL
GRN

SL
M
</pre>
The squad column lacks security to the front and rear, but maximizes firepower to the flanks.
The squad column should primarily be used when contact should be avoided at all costs and when the reaction to contact will be to break from it.
In most other traveling situations for large groups the formation should be a staggered column or a squad column.

There are two AAR types. Text AARs and visual AARs.

Text AARs
There are 2 forms of AARs we use at Coalition.

Discord
Discord is more loosely structured and allows you to have quick and flowing conversation with other members of the community in real time

To talk about what went right, what went wrong, and how we can further ensure the quality of future sessions, use #AAR in discord.

Forums
Forum AARs are designed to be structured and allow for precises, accurate, and detailed accounts regarding what happened during our session. This is to be used to have a proper discussion about both the positives and negatives of a mission(s), as well as the concepts, ideas, and otherwise on how to further improve.

Forum text AARs can be found and discussed here: https://coalitiongroup.net/portal/forum/32-after-action-review/

Simply follow the formats of the previous listed AARs and use

Visual AARs
All visual AARs can be found here:

Purpose
As a UAV operator, your tasking during any operation is to:
*Provide fast, accurate, and detailed intel on enemy movements and installations
*Update friendly units to possible hazards and opportunities
*Occasionally work with other support units (CAS/Mortar/Engineers/Ect) to more effectively leverage their abilities on the battlefield
*Act as a JTAC if the mission is set up for it to call in necessary support i.e. laser designation for an airstrike or giving reference for missile runs

Equipment
Gear Scripts can slightly vary from missions to mission, but the most common are:
*UAV Terminal (Located at the bottom of the equipment screen in the "communications" slot)
*Binoculars (Laser Des. can be in place but rarely is it needed with current gear loadouts and UAV's built in Des.)
*LR Radio (Commonly you will have two AN/PRC-148 or AN/PRC-152)
*Darter UAV backback (Mission dependent but almost always provided)

UAVs
The actual workhorse of the position you are using, the UAV can, depending on the type being used, offer you a valuable and almost unfair advantage to any mission it is active on. The most commonly used UAVs are the:

Air:
*Darter/Tayran AR-2: Backpack carried and launched, quad rotor, payload incapable
*MQ-12 Falcon: 5-blade rotary helicopter, payload capable
*MQ4A Greyhawk / K40 Abalil-3: Single prop, semi-stealth, payload capable
*Sentinel: Twin jet powered, wing-body airframe, payload capable
*UGV Stomper / UGV Saif: 6-wheeled, 12.7mm HMG/40mm GMG armed, single seat
Operation
Movement
So you've mistakenly slotted UAV and now need to know what are you even doing with these multi-million crafts. No worries, its simple and easily manageable once you've looked over the screens you will be working with.

The first thing you will want to do it use your scroll wheel and select Open UAV Terminal

Following you will have a map with a list on the left side appear. You will navigate to the top left, Hit the drop-down, and select the UAV you are wanting to control

Once selected, the left panel will update with all information available about the UAV you are in control of. You can only have 1 UAV selected at a time.

You can now select one of the panels on the right side to manually control the drones movement or camera.

(For the following, "Autonomous" must be selected for inputs to work.)

Alternatively you can Shift + Left Click to set a nav point for the drone to do by itself. Be aware that drones can be sometimes be crazy and will need to be monitored if you set them to do their own pathing.

CTRL + Left Click will set additional waypoints

Right clicking on a waypoint will give you a set of options
*Type
**The type of moment you drone will seek to follow. The most commonly used will be Move, Hold, Loiter. If loiter is selected, a dropbox will appear asking at what diameter the drone is to circle.
*Behavior
**Gives the drone its ROE. Important: In almost all cases you will need to set the drone to "Never fire" if you have ordinance on it. They like to get aggressive sometimes.
*Altitude
**Self explanatory. How high it flies.

Observation
Now that we know how to get the UAV moving and into position, lets discuss where to move to and how to begin relaying information.
AR-2
For most operations you will be using a backpack carried AR-2. It allows for quick and easy observation as well as a laser des. should the need arise for it.

If you are beginning a mission that has you withing 1-2 kilometers from the objective, your PL may have you launch from the deployment area and begin assessing the area that will be under contact.
If you are farther than this, it would be advisable to wait until you get into this range as the darter has a very slow movement time (~30-60km/h)

Once you have deployed and connected you need to begin gathering intel for the PL and marking the map with important locations, emplacements, and positions of enemies, especially vehicles and high danger areas.

The closest distance to work from should be 500m from the objective area. DO NOT approach any closer than this. From multiple tests and calculations, it was found that ~250 meters will trigger enemies to begin engaging. This range is highly extended if the enemy possesses any radar equipped vehicles. Although these test were done in the best possible conditions, weather and time of day do affect how close you can get. Regardless, with a ~8x zoom camera, you should be more than able to stay out of engagement ranges and gain intel safely.

The only other thing to cover is the laser designator. You simply need to fire it on or off with you mouse. A symbol will appear showing if it is powered or off. Assets can then lock on to your point and deliver ordnance. Note: If you want to las a target and don't wish to have to hold it, you can disable Autonomous and the drone will not reset the camera. This will not make the drone crash. It would be advisable to set the drone to Auto Hover beforehand.

MQ-12 Falcon
This drone works similar to the AR-2. Only other changes is it carries payload and moves significantly faster. Also it is slightly louder and larger so safe operation distance should be extended to ~800m. Keeping this drone stationed a moderate distance away and calling it in when necessary is the safest option.

MQ4A/K40
Time to step it up. You are now using a UAV capable of delivering much more powerful payloads; Most common are 2x GBU-12s or 6x Scalpel ATGMs.

Using this drone will prove a more complicated but higher impact asset for the mission in which it is used. You will need to be fully aware of friendly positions and where the enemy is at so you can provide a significant multiplying force. Your PL should be the one calling in most of the strikes unless he clears you to remove contacts at will, usually only if you are equipped with the ATGMs. Other than this, you should always be on standby gathering intel. This craft isn't made to operate like CAS, but to provide a fast and accurate demolition to high threat targets that infantry cannot or should not handle on their own terms. Consider it an emergency call-in rather than a heavy armed war machine.

The easiest and safest way to operate this is to send the UAV on a Loiter movement outside of the zone, closer to the side of the objective you will be moving in from. You will almost NEVER want to have this circling directly overhead unless you are almost certain you will not have a risk of being shot down. Don't forget to set the altitude as well. You want to be high up, not mowing the lawn.

Sentinel
Now we are talking. You are currently in operation of a very fast and powerful UAV. If this is provided for you to use, you probably will have a secondary drone to use for intel, usually the AR-2. This UAV is the fastest clocking in at a max of around ~900km/h while having a slightly different payload. It has 2 pylons, commonly equipped with GBU-12s, CBU-85s, or BL778s. You can equip other payloads but these will be your go-to as you want to come in fast, drop your ordinance, and get out just as fast.

You should have the Sentinel stationed FAR away from the conflict zone. Remember that you need to have plenty of space to line up for a strike and get out. PLENTY of room. Running intel with this should almost always be in high need situations. If you need to gather intel, it would be advisable to do a flyover at mid altitude and speed. Don't sit around and get shot down.

Stomper/Saif
So you get to actually mess some stuff up now. Probably the most needy of the UVs you will use. You carry a 12.7mm HMG and a devastating 40mm GMG. You have the ability to wipe squads at the push of a button from 9km away.

You won't get to provide as much for intel with this as its at ground level, but what you lack in intel, you make up in firepower. You will need to work with PL for the positioning of where to have your UGV stationed but most likely you will need to be in communication with the SL's on where contact is and which squad to bolster. Keep in mind, you are still a fairly fragile machine, not a heavy armored tank so use it as such.

Lastly it carries 1 person. This may not seem like much but it could make the difference in some cases. A critically wounded soldier, getting a Medic to the field quickly, picking up a someone who had to eject from the air are all useful tasks you can do. You may even end up carrying some light resupply to allies. This UGV can make for a great mobility item for special cases.

Final Tips and Notes
#Any vehicle that CANNOT hover needs to remain in Autonomous mode to keep it from crashing.
#Set all ordinance platforms to Never Fire to prevent them from wasting payload or worse case, killing allies.
#Remember your role is important. Kicking back and staring at one place is never acceptable. You could be the difference from a FT getting surprised by a BTR or them getting the jump on one. Intel is the biggest part of the battle.
#Stay behind the action. A dead UAV or operator is a crippling blow for friendly forces. Keep yourself and your drone alive. There is never a reason to hang out in a bad place.
#Know how to fly the craft your about to use. Set the up controls to work for you. If you can't pilot a helicopter, then get a bit of practice. Same for fixed wings.
#The AR-2 is sensitive. Seriously, this thing likes to move like a rocket. Set it to auto hover and it becomes very manageable. Unless you're needing to really move quick.
#Listen to the radio. You can work your position without PL holding your hand. Don't be afraid to call directly to a SL if you have information his squad needs. Save lives, not prides.
#Enjoy doing what you do. If you're a run-and-gun guy, this probably won't be for you. Know beforehand if you are comfortable with sitting back and being a support rather than an assault.

You are currently in operations of a very fast and powerful UAV.
